The goal of this project is to increase transparency and improve service delivery by providing the Town of Hamden and residents with publicly available service request data.
The Town of Hamden has a population of ~61,000 and ~610 active employees. The Town maintains a SeeClickFix account. SeeClickFix allows users to report issues directly to the town. These issues are routed to appropriate Town staff for resolution.
There are 1,402 opened/acknowledged issues in Hamden.
Since 2015, it took an average 419 days for an issue to be closed.

Why this project?
It is important that the custodians of public information are not the gatekeepers of information. As the Sunlight Foundation puts it, “disproportionate access to information is power.” In this sense, we aim to empower the public.
Although much of the SeeClickFix data is publicly available, it is difficult for the general public to generate reports and understand overall quality of service delivery.
